Brickworks delivers the works in a handy location next to Cardiff Central station, says James Higgins

With a development name like Brickworks, it is no surprise these apartments in Cardiff’s exciting South Central district have a rough-hewn appearance. Exposed brick walls and concrete floors give these otherwise chic and contemporary apartments a unique character that incorporates the area’s industrial architecture into its future.

Brickworks comprises two main buildings. There is a six-storey warehouse-style brick-built building and a nine-storey neighbouring building that together comprise a hundred one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. On the ground level, there will be a number of independent businesses, whilst the entire of the rooftop level is given over to an impressive terrace which will offer all the residents a shared space with views that stretch as far as the River Taff.

The development is a short walk from Cardiff Central station which is one of the region’s best-connected rail hubs with services to London, the Midlands and across Wales. Cardiff is a superb city for buyers looking to relocate from Bristol. Not only does it have a booming local economy, but the Motorpoint Arena, St David’s Hall, Millennium Centre and Millennium Stadium all give Cardiff impressive credentials as one of the UK’s cultural centres. There is excellent shopping and nightlife, too – it is a city that is bursting with opportunity for those in their twenties and thirties.

Brickworks comprises an impressive range of apartments which include duplexes with a number featuring balconies. The apartments also benefit from under croft parking for vehicles and a secure cycle storage facility. The development is accessed via a gated entrance courtyard and boasts an ‘industrial-chic’ ground-floor lobby area with lifts.

While each apartment has its own unique arrangement, all feature a concrete-effect designer kitchen with matching worktop, integrated appliances by BEKO including a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob and extractor fan. Each apartment also comes fitted, as standard, with an intercom with door release and recessed spotlights with pendant light fittings to kitchens and bedrooms – the lighting gives the apartments a sophisticated ambience. Also, of benefit is the ultra-fast fibre-optic internet that equips every apartment perfectly for the 21st-century.
