The Pony & Trap announce first Tasting Menus of 2018

Michelin starred gastropub The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna has launched the first of its 2018 special event tasting menus starting with a Burns Night Supper on January 25th in celebration of the great chieftain of the pudding race.

Owned and operated by the Eggleton family with brother and sister duo Josh and Holly at the helm, The Pony & Trap is one of the South West’s most famed and most loved restaurants. Having held a Michelin Star since 2011, The Pony & Trap has also built a stellar reputation as one of the county’s finest dining destinations.

Kicking off the new year in Celtic style, the first special event of 2018 will be a Burns Night Supper. Taking place, as one would expect, on January 25th diners can expect a Pony-style twist on a traditional Burns Night supper. Optional wine flights will also be available, however for those wanting a dram to accompany their Burns Night Supper a whiskey flight will also be offer.

The following month sees the much anticipated return of The Pony & Trap’s ever-popular fish and shellfish tasting menu. Celebrating the finest produce the South West’s seas have to offer, this special seasonal seafood tasting menu takes place on February 22nd and promises to feature a delightful array of fish, shellfish and seafood alongside a selection of champagnes chosen by the Front of House team.

Then on March 23rd pork is on the menu, with The Pony team preparing six sumptuous courses of Sow. Nothing will go to waste as diners will be treat to a nose to tail experience of supreme South West swine. An optional wine flight is available however there will also be the option to pair this tasting menu with a choice selection of ciders… the perfect accompaniment to pork.

But the special events don’t stop there. Josh and the team are working hard to develop future tasting menus in 2018, which will be announced in due course.  In addition to these tasting menus, Josh is also planning a continuation on 2017’s Guest Chef Series, as he looks set to bring some of the country’s top culinary talent into The Pony & Trap’s kitchen for one night only.
