The painting from The Downs Preparatory School pupil will be on show from 13 July–4 August

Great excitement at The Downs Preparatory School as the school received the exciting news that Year 3 pupil, Sebastian Mann (aged 8) has been invited to exhibit his painting ‘Surprised by a Tiger’ in the inaugural Young Artists’ Summer Show exhibition at The Royal Academy, Piccadilly London from 13 July–4 August 2019.

The very first Young Artists’ Summer Show invited talented primary and secondary students across the UK to submit their artwork for a chance to have it displayed online and at the Royal Academy. Out of a strong field of 6,200 talented young artists from the UK and beyond, a total of nine pupils from The Downs Preparatory School were shortlisted for their artworks. Alongside Sebastian’s success, Year 8 pupil Lulu Thomas (aged 13) has also been accepted into the online exhibition.

“We are thrilled for Seb, Lulu and their teachers, we have no doubt that Henri Rousseau would also be impressed!” – The Downs Preparatory School

Sebastian’s work has now been framed and The Mann family will travel to London to deliver the work of art to the Royal Academy on 6 July.

The Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show will be online from 10 June–31 December 2019. To view the show and vote for your favourite art work please go to https://youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibitions/2019 Or visit the Royal Academy from 14 July–August 2019.
