An incredible refurbishment has turned this property into a gleaming, contemporary dormer bungalow, writes James Higgins

This newly refurbished semi-detached dormer bungalow is in the popular north Bristol suburb of Winterbourne. Well-regarded by house hunters for its proximity to motorway and rail networks, this area has lots of selling points. This impressive home has high-quality interiors, a reconfigured floorplan and a generous garden.

There is a large, open-plan kitchen/family room adjoining a dining room on the ground floor. There is also a large lounge, a utility room, a shower room, a double-bedroom and a single-bedroom on the ground floor which has a large entrance hallway running through the centre.

The entrance lobby has an open, timber staircase with a metal and glass balustrade which ascends to the newly created first floor in the eaves of the property. This design helps light abound through the lobby and draws the eye through the centre of the home. The hallway is broad and makes the whole home feel airy and welcoming.

The kitchen/family room and dining room have been knocked through to create a generous L-shaped room with spotlights throughout. Both rooms have French doors on to the rear patio which further complement the open, airy layout of the space. Much like the hallway, the entire open-plan living area is fully tiled which lends the house a low-maintenance yet stylish finish. In the corner of the family room is a wood-burning stove and in the kitchen, there is an integrated eye-level double oven, hob, extractor fan and fridge/freezer.

Double doors open from the hallway onto the 16.7m² lounge. Here there is a large front-facing aspect, carpets and inset spotlights. The final room off the hallway is the double-bedroom which has French doors that open onto rear decking – a perfect place to retreat on a Sunday morning with breakfast and a book. Adjoining the double bedroom is a bathroom – it features fully tiled walls and floors, a bath with shower over, and a deep basin with a mixer tap.

The first floor has yielded two exceptional double bedrooms. With skylight aspects and spotlights, the attic space has been well utilised by this conversion. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and built-in wardrobes.

To the front of the house is a large gravel driveway providing ample space for off-street parking. The driveway leads up to the large garage which is in a partial state of conversion following the addition of stud walls and plumbing. It could be used as a workshop, separate office or even an annexe were suitable planning consents to be obtained. The rear garden measures 18.2m by 4.6m and, given its west-facing orientation, is a real sun trap in the afternoon.

A great home in great condition and in a perfect location!
