Space, light, and colour: top tips from The Kitchen Partners

Dreaming of creating your very own custom kitchen space? Bristol’s The Kitchen Partners are on hand to help

At The Kitchen Partners, we believe that the ideal kitchen is all about the perfect blend of design and functionality. From installing appliances in handy places, to designing a bespoke kitchen island to best suit you, there are always ways we will be able to better optimize your kitchen to meet the way you want to use it.

If you are starting with a blank canvas, it is important to set priorities in terms of the layout and zoning, in order to achieve your dream kitchen. Most people are aware of the ergonomics needed in a kitchen area, usually achieved by a working triangle formed by sink, hob, and fridge. However, it is also important to consider including a prep area to ensure the space is even more functional.

Using light, soft tones (like white & grey) and reflective materials enable light to bounce around the room. As lighter shades are more reflective this will allow both natural and artificial light to reflect off, making your kitchen feel airy and open. That being said, if you’ve had your heart set on having a darker finish in your kitchen; try using darker tones on the base units and keep everything else (including the walls) light to balance out the colour.

An injection of colour to your kitchen design can create an impressive look as well as giving you the opportunity to add your personality and unique style to your room. Common finishes our clients are requesting in their kitchen design are colours such as light and dark blues, earthy greens and warm reds. Another way of adding colour to your room if you prefer white or neutral kitchen units is by displaying colourful plates and pottery on open shelves, paintings on the wall, or fresh colourful plants.

We have a flair for interior design ideas and innovative spatial solutions. Over the past 15 years we have helped design and create many beautiful kitchens. If you are currently looking for a spot of motivation or inspiration, you know you can call us for a chat!
