South Bristol multimillion pound regeneration project completes

New development Filwood Park breathes new life into the area

Filwood Park, a new housing development at the heart of a multi-million-pound regeneration project in South Bristol, has completed with its park and community centre set to open in the coming months.

Housebuilder Barratt Homes, in partnership with Homes England, has created a new development of 150 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. Now complete and sold with most residents moved in, breathing new life into the area, the development is surrounded by open space and includes a play area.

The new park will offer plenty of space for leisure and recreation for people who live at Filwood Park and surrounding communities. The community centre will provide a space for groups and clubs to host activities for the benefit of local residents of Filwood Park and the surrounding area, too.

Barratt Homes has also planted new trees and meadow grass to create habitat for insects, supporting biodiversity.

The land at Filwood Park has historically been associated with a former school kitchen, aircraft training centre and an engineering works to the south-west of the site.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at the Bristol division of Barratt Homes, said: “We are proud to have delivered much-needed new homes as part of this significant regeneration project at Filwood Park, which has supported many first-time buyers onto the property ladder.

“We look forward to the opening of the new community centre and park, too, paving the way for a real sense of community to develop among residents and providing the opportunity for local people to enjoy a wonderful outdoor space.

“This development has been a hugely successful partnership project with Homes England and has had a significant positive impact on the local area, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.”
