Sanchez Brothers to open Pi Shop

A new pizzeria at The General

Another exciting chapter in Bristol’s vibrant food scene will begin on Thursday 21st July as the Sanchez Brothers opens Pi Shop; a new 40 seat pizzeria at The General, City & Country’s contemporary development of historic and newly built apartments and innovative commercial property spaces. Featuring an open-plan kitchen and wood fired oven, the restaurant will serve a simple, affordable menu of fantastic sour dough pizzas.

Inspired by sister restaurant Casamia’s original roots, Pi Shop reflects the origins of the now famous restaurant which started out by serving a range of authentic Italian pizzas. The décor has a laid back Italian feel intertwined with local Bristolian influences, creating a fun place for locals to enjoy. The restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner services, and the restaurant team will continue Casamia’s tradition of sourcing and using the very best in seasonal, local produce.

Casamia, the highly acclaimed Michelin starred fine dining restaurant, reopened at its new city centre location at The General in January. Now Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, Co-Founder and Owner of Sanchez Brothers, cannot wait to now open the doors to Pi Shop. He says:

“This is a very exciting step in the Sanchez Brothers journey. We’ve had a fantastic reception since we reopened Casamia at The General and we think guests are going to love the different feel of Pi Shop which will offer great, tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere. Bristol has such a diverse culinary scene and we’re really proud to be a part of it and hope to see lots of new visitors soon!”

Pi Shop is the first of two new dining concepts that Sanchez Brothers is launching at The General. Soon Paco Tapas, named after Peter’s father Paco, will open, completing the trio of exciting new dining options in Bristol’s city centre.

Meanwhile City & Country is moving into the next stages of restoration work to the majestic Grade II Listed former General Hospital, and a new community of residents now calls The General home. With a diverse range of new and historic properties for sale, Helen Moore, Managing Director of City & Country, believes Casamia’s new restaurants will be a further attraction for house hunters. She comments:

“Welcoming Pi Shop to The General is a brilliant addition to the building and to this exciting new culinary destination. Since opening, Casamia has added a real buzz to this area of the city and we believe that Pi Shop and Paco Tapas will further develop The General’s vibrant sense of community.”
