An EcoDesign ready stove meets the criteria laid out in the recent Clean Air Strategy. These are stoves that have been tested to lower emissions, by burning wood more efficiently, effectively and cleanly. Every stove sold in the UK must be EcoDesign ready by 2022 and many stove models already meet the standard. They are also approved for burning wood in Smoke Control areas – such as the cities of Bristol and Bath. There are is a wide range of approved appliances, from manufacturers such as Contura, Morso, Dik Guerts, Charnwood and Aga.
A wood burner can be a low-cost alternative or supplement to gas, electric or oil fired heating. If used effectively, you will see savings on your fuel bills immediately. With the new state of the art technology, many stoves are 80%–90% efficient, compared to around 10%–15% for an open fire.

No chimney – no problem!
