It's brand-new and hosted by Jay James
Made in Bristol, the City TV channel dedicated to viewers living in Bristol and its surrounding areas, is launching a new, prime-time sports show, named ‘Sportsline’, to be hosted by Jay James.
‘Sportsline’ will form part of the Made Television Network’s Autumn/Winter programming line-up and will roll out across other Made Television Channels in the UK from September, 2017. The show will air weekly on Made in Bristol each Monday at 7 pm from Monday 11th September.
Once a former Royal Navy Warfare Specialist turned Physical Trainer, host Jay joined the military age 16 and was involved in the Afghan conflict and National Fire strikes respectfully whilst serving 10 years among Her Majesty’s finest before falling accidentally into a career in music and broadcasting.
With a well-documented successful career within the Military, Jay was a popular, well known accomplished sportsman. Having played representative Royal Navy (RN) Rugby League, RN Under 21’s Football, Rugby Union and Cricket, Jay during his time as a Physical Trainer also trained combined services personnel to keep fit, coached and managed establishment sports teams and organised Adventurous Training trips and events. In 2006 Jay was nominated for an award for outstanding contribution towards RN PT Branch after organising both the Royal Navy & Combined Service Boxing Championships at HM Naval Base in Portsmouth.
After sustaining a major knee injury playing representative rugby, during sick leave Jay uncovered a love and talent for music. He learnt to play a guitar he purchased as a drunken bet, and within a matter of years he then went on to sign a major record deal & songwriting contract.
In 2014 Jay made headlines as a finalist on the 11th series of The X Factor, as his mentor Simon Cowell’s predicted winner, Jay then went on to touring some of the biggest arenas and venues in the UK & Ireland.
From music to broadcasting in 2015/16 Jay established a career in radio, presenting & producing a weekly Global Show on Forces Radio, BFBS. ‘The BIG Show’ currently airs 3 times a week to Forces Listeners in 27+ Countries around the world covering all matters of music, entertainment and sport.
Now with a genuine excitement for his focus in TV, Jay adds: ‘’I’m delighted to ‘sign’ with the team and be hosting ‘Sportsline’ for Made in Bristol TV. For me, sport has always been a passion, something fun and entertaining that gave me an outlet to express myself well before music. That is exactly what we want ‘Sportline’ to be, an entertaining family sports show for passionate people who want to come and express themselves about anything sports related. We’re also looking to really shine a light on the amazing diversity of sports in the South West, not to mention proudly showcasing what our sports men, women and children are achieving at ALL levels.”
The family sports magazine and phone-in show will look ahead to the weekend’s local sporting action, inviting viewers to ‘phone in via the ‘sportsline’ and air their opinions on the week’s hot sporting topics. The show will pay particular attention to local football clubs, as well as other sporting favourites including rugby, cricket, netball and hockey.
The programme will also feature light, entertaining sporting-based features such as a regular sport’s quiz; inviting ‘mini pundits’ to the studio each week to review the sporting action; nostalgia features – interviews with local sporting legends and coaches, and regular physical challenges where fans and ex-professionals will be invited to take part in a sporting match-up.
For the first time ever ‘Sportsline’ will simulcast Live on Facebook at 7pm every Monday, broadcasting the show globally to welcome comments and input from South West sports fans from all over the World.
