One of the most decorated films in recent memory comes to Bristol's Colston Hall for a truly sensational event...
Witness one of the most magical cinematic works of the past few years in a whole new light — musical masterpiece La La Land is coming to Colston Hall for a fabulous screening accompanied by a 60-piece orchestra… You’ll be able to enjoy the music and songs like never before!
The multiple award-winning movie, a decorated Oscar darling which scooped the gong for Best Original Song and Best Original Score (plus others), has been described as the film of a generation. While that remains to been seen, it’s certainly captured the hearts and minds of many who’ve seen it, accruing millions of fans worldwide for its beguiling mixture of song, dance, romance and ambition.
La La Land, written and directed by Damien Chazelle, follows Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastien (Ryan Gosling), as they fight their way through the City Of Dreams. One’s an ambitious actress looking to strike the big time, the other’s a jazz musician with grander dreams — both are down on their luck and looking to break free of the heartbreak and dream-dashing that Los Angeles has a nasty reputation for. This is an original musical about life, love, joy, pain and following your dreams, and there’s little wonder it’s fast become a firm favourite for many across the world!
As well as the script, acting, set design and myriad other elements that make La La Land a one-of-a-kind spectacle, the music obviously plays a big part — and it’ll play an even larger role at Colston Hall with a real orchestra performing the soundtrack live before your eyes (and ears!). Nothing beats the rush of a full orchestra — it can’t be beat — and it’ll add a spellbinding dimension to this already-great film.
Tickets for the performance, which begins at 7.30pm, are on sale now from £42.46 (including booking fees).
