Come and make ‘wtf you like’ at this hands-on one-day course
WTF are a female-founded education provider that puts on workshops teaching people new vocational skills – these range from glasswork to scrap metal art.
The one-day intensive courses are suitable for all levels of experience and everything is provided, from tools to material. A huge variety of interesting scrap metal pieces will be available, most of which are included in the course price though some special items like Edison bulbs or clock movements will cost extra.
The day will start with a health and safety induction, followed by demonstrations and instructions for the tools and facilities available. Practical, artistic and problem-solving advice from the experts will be on hand at any time if needed and every participant gets to take home their new creation made from scrap metal.
Consecutive days can be booked for a larger or more complicated project, or to deepen skills and gain a higher level of proficiency.
Participants are advised to wear suitable non-synthetic clothing with long sleeves and closed-toe, solid footwear.
Group sizes are between three and six participants to two teachers. Young children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Teenagers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a disclaimer.
Tools available include: MIG welders, angle grinders, cut-off saw, pillar drill, roller, brazing equipment, Oxy-propane torch for heat bending and cutting, and many hand tools.
Included in the price:
• Materials and consumables
• All tools, equipment and PPE (personal protective equipment)
• Tea, coffee and biscuits, but please bring a packed lunch.
