Get a taste of Thai culture

The Multi and Thai Cultural Food Festival brings together lots of diverse cultures for one huge party this month

The Multi and Thai Cultural Food Festival is headed to Bristol’s Millennium Square at the end of July, bringing a brilliant mix of vibrant flavours, sounds and fashion to the city. It’s a great celebration of the South East Asian nation — and also a great way to try some tasty new grub!

You’ll be able to try a vast array of regional and international cuisines at the numerous food stalls. There’s something for everyone, from chicken satay to pad thai to the iconic Thai green curry. You can taste a huge range of food including soups, noodles and treats for those who like it hot… make sure you arrive with an empty belly!

A range of cooking demonstrations will also be happening over the weekend, with the Carib Asian Cookery Show (from Made In Bristol TV) appearing to whip up some a feast of flavourful fusions.

It’s not just food and drink at the festival though, with a vivid selection of entertainment on offer all weekend long — there will be traditional costume parades and dancing, Buddhist monks will be in attendance and lots of live music, plus the Miss Thailand UK beauty pageant, which takes place on the Saturday.

There’s something musical for everyone on the cards: ‘80s rockers Deja Vudou, electronic duo Stereo Kela, electro-rock composer NoiseWander and SoulTrain Radio are all in attendance, bringing fun and family-friendly beats to the weekend.

You can also experience the intense art of Thai boxing, with demonstrations taking place over the festival showing off the superhuman prowess of these famed fighters.

Bring the whole family for the weekend — a two-day ticket is just £6 in advance, or two for £8 (£8/£12 on the door). You can also get a day ticket for £4. Children under 13 go free!
