Developing happy, active global citizens at Fairfield High School

How Fairfield High School is facing pandemic restrictions

Staff and students at Fairfield High School are tackling the unprecedented challenges of coronavirus with resilience and creativity.

The school has come up with innovative solutions to the pandemic restrictions and students and staff have adapted well to remote learning when necessary.

Parents of pupils have been supportive, and these strong relationships are helping everyone through the tough times.

We want students to be well cared for, with the strength of character to excel in life – Principal Nick Lewis

The focus at this inclusive school in Horfield remains on supporting the students, aged 11 to 16, to develop as successful, happy, active global citizens.

Fairfield High School celebrates its diversity – the flags of more than 80 countries hang in its atrium to represent the different backgrounds of its community.

Environmental issues, gender and racial inequality and social disadvantage are just some of the issues that FHS students are prepared to tackle. The school recently won £2,020 in a national competition for reducing carbon consumption by 36 per cent in a year.

Principal Nick Lewis said: “The Fairfield Family is pulling together and holding true to our school values. We want students to be well cared for, with the strength of character to excel in life. We want them to enjoy learning and to care for themselves and for others.”
