Looking to start a new hobby? Want to promote your business? Or are you thinking about going freelance? These female-founded groups will help you realise your dream…
Now that January is well and truly upon us, it might be time to try something new. And this month, ladies, we’re looking at you. Bristol is bursting with so many networking events and groups to help you either get a foot on the career ladder, or to give you the opportunity to explore a new talent or hobby. We’ve listed some of our favourites in the area to help you get started.
Women’s Business Club
Held all across the South West in various locations, The Bristol Women’s Business Club is run by a community of women who are dedicated to their members and empowering them to succeed. Their vision is to help businesswomen create, build and share their success stories, whilst helping them feel supported every step of the way. A well-respected and recognised group, their events help women connect with like-minded, successful female company directors over a healthy lunch. Come along and be inspired by the top-class business talks that will leave you inspired and raring to go. The next event is based in Bath on Wednesday 6 February, but keep an eye on their website for further dates.
Girl Tribe Gang
Getting a little sick of the 9 to 5? Thinking about quitting your day job and going freelance? Then this is one group you should definitely try out. Held at Bristol’s prestigious Square Club, a private members’ club for the film, media and creative industries, the next event is happening this evening and promises to shake up the way you view freelancing. The evening will be run by Sharmila Bousa, self-confessed polymath and Green Party Parliamentary candidate for Bristol North West, who will explain how she has found a rich, varied and fulfilling career as a freelancer. She’ll be offering up advice on how to manage your days when you are your own boss and setting achievable goals, so you don’t get overwhelmed. Check their website for further dates.
Women Tech Founders
If you’re looking to get into tech, then this Meetup group should get you feeling pretty inspired. Women Tech Founders was created to support, inspire and encourage women tech founders across Bristol and the South West, no matter how established they are. If you’re just starting out, have a great idea or even want to boost your existing business, this group holds quarterly meetings to offer up a platform for women to introduce themselves, their ideas and their businesses to a mixed audience of other tech founders, supporters and investors. The meetings will cover a variety of topics, including what the founders do, what inspired them, how they did it, how they got funding and even covers follow up issues – all in all, it’s all you need to get started!
