Hoo-ha! festival returns to Colston Hall from Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th August
BAFTA winners and children’s TV legends Dick and Dom will take over Colston Hall to kick off the festival on Tuesday 15th August, with a performance full of madcap challenges and audience participation games that will guarantee to have the whole family in stitches. Other key highlights include Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes; which brings the world famous author’s re-interpretations of well known fairy tales to life in an interactive show with live musical performances of Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs to name a few.
Following the success of Wild Things in 2016, Bristol-based Bakehouse Factory return for Hoo-ha! with another interactive, all action theatrical romp of a show with colourful characters combined with storytelling, games, craft, music and puppetry to create an immersive show. Teaming up with Bristol Zoo, Bakehouse are calling all pint sized palaeontologists to step back in time into a crazy cretaceous class room on Wednesday 16th August with an imaginative and interactive show for dinosaur lovers, featuring Professor T Rex, assisted by Velocity Raptor and Terry Dactyl. Teaching the youngsters fun prehistoric facts through lively lessons filled with exciting adventures, all pupils will receive an honorary Dino School degree with full Bristol Zoo accreditation. There might even be a ‘real life’ Mesozoic megastar dropping by to do the dino stomp at the graduation disco!
Youngsters can get ready to open a book and discover a world where anything is possible with Mischief and Mysteries in Moominvalley on Tuesday 15th August. With plentiful adventures, magical puppetry, original music and interactive play, the young ones will get the opportunity to take part in the unique storytelling experience filled with plenty of surprises and Moomin mischief.
On Wednesday 16th August, purveyors of relaxed Classical concerts for babies, toddlers and their families also return to Hoo-Ha for the second year running with a concert of Brilliant Brass.
Finally the festival comes to a close with one ginormous birthday party to celebrate Colston Hall’s 150th birthday. Children’s TV presenter Andy Day will be making an appearance, while DJ Cheeba spins the wheels of steel, and more guests to be announced. Expect disco lights and party fun galore, so get your glad rags on and don your dancing shoes – it’s time to party!
