Chitty chitty bang bang

The beloved family experience hits the boards at the Hippodrome for a thrilling production with big names and big songs…

Iconic musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is headed to the city this month to bring some much-needed warmth into our lives in these long winter weeks.

The show has broken box office records in the West End and is now on the hunt for a new challenge—it arrives in Bristol for an enticing run of performances this month until 4 February! Bringing a star-packed cast, heartwarming characters and a Truly Scrumptious set of memorable musical numbers, it’s sure to delight the entire family.

It’s a spellbinding tale that follows oddball inventor Caractacus Potts and his children on a mysterious, madcap adventure full of imaginative sights and thrilling twists—make sure you watch out for the evil Child Catcher!

It’s one of the world’s favourite musicals and it’s perfect for all ages—The Times have called it “fabulous family entertainment” — with plenty of nods to the classic original for parents and lots of laughs and beautiful costumes to keep the little ones’ attention for the whole time. As you might expect, there are also all manner of ramshackle contraptions to make sense of—the show wouldn’t be complete without some of Caractacus’ handiwork now, would it?

This stunning production is brought to life by the talented team behind Fiddler On The Roof and The King And I, and reunites the likes of Jason Manford (The Producers, Sweeney Todd), Claire Sweeney and Phill Jupitus with the big stage. Of course, it’d be a tricky show to pull off without the magic of Chitty herself…

James Brining directs Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, with choreography by Stephen Ridley and musical direction by Andrew Hilton. Each performance is accompanied by a live orchestra.

Tickets start from £18.50, and there are a range of both matinee and evening performances to pick from. Make sure you book quick to avoid disappointment.
