Keep the kids busy this summer with these activity camps!
The summer holidays are well and truly underway! Whilst we all know it’s nice to spend some time with our little ones, the weeks can spread out and feel a little bit endless. Keeping them entertained at home can be tricky and can even get a bit expensive! Luckily, Bristol has an abundance of holiday and activity clubs all over the city for a whole range of ages – to make things easier, we’ve listed our favourites!
Clifton College Holiday Club
Running all the way through to the end of August, Clifton College is offering up a whole range of activities for children aged from three to 13. Split into four groups, children can enjoy swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more at the school. There is also a selection of team activities such as dodgeball, tennis and rounders to get kids engaging and working with others. For teens there are age-appropriate games such as pool and table tennis, as well as PlayStation and Wii! Early drop-off starts from 8.00am and the stay late service runs until 6.00pm, and lunch is included in the daily starting price of £22.
Hotshots Adventure at UWE
For those with more adventurous children, this particular holiday camp should keep them happy! Running on selected Thursdays throughout August at UWE’s Centre for Sport, Hotshots Adventure Holiday Camp will provide a mixture of onsite and offsite activities to help keep your kids motivated, challenged and, most of all, active. For children aged between 12 and 16, select activities include climbing, tag archery, water sports, caving, netball, wheelchair basketball and much more. Children can be dropped off between 8.30am and 9.15am and picked up between 5pm and 5.30pm. Make sure you supply them with a good lunch – they’re going to need it after all this exercise! Prices are £33 per child per day, or £30 per child per day if you book three days or more.
Bishopston Road Activity Club
One for keeping things varied, Bishopston Road Activity Club offers a holiday play scheme for children aged 4–11 years old. Each week over the summer holidays has a different theme, and this year it’s countries – starting in France and working through Finland, Germany, Spain and ending in the UK!
The activities will change every day keeping kids on their toes, and includes a variety of things to do, including arts and crafts such as making nature wreathes and vases, painting activities, workshops, cooking classes and visiting places like Avon Valley Wildlife and Adventure Park. Drinks and snacks are provided, but it is recommended that children bring their own lunch – prices start from £28.00.
