The fair host artwork from the newest talent in the region and is open from today

The Affordable Art Fair opened its doors in Brunel’s Old Station in Bristol on Friday night with a Charity Private View in aid of local charity Studio Upstairs, in a celebration of the city’s unique art scene.

Running from Friday until this Sunday 10 September, the fair is hosting works by Bristol’s top graduates, a drawing robot and one of the city’s best known mural artists. Alongside dozens of returning favourites, the fairs will feature 7 galleries showing at the Bristol event for the first time. Visitors will also be able to browse and buy works by hundreds of artists from Bristol and beyond from just £100-£6,000, and take them home right away to put a unique and creative stamp on their homes.

Amongst the artists showing at this year’s event is Paul O’Dowd, from the University of West England Centre for Fine Print Research, and his experimental drawing robot. His works are shown alongside prints from Stanley Donwood, known for his work on Radiohead’s album art since the band’s beginning.

The University will also be presenting works by a selection of their top recent graduates, including installation works by Connor Lowe and Alice Vaughan, giving visitors the chance to snap up pieces by exciting emerging talent.

Elsewhere, the fair’s Artist in Residence Alex Lucas, well known for her colourful murals across the city, will be selling a limited edition print of her design for the Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon t-shirt, alongside a range of her colourful print works.

As well as choosing from hundreds of artworks, visitors will also have the chance to take part in hands-on workshops for the whole family to enjoy and attend informative talks across the weekend.
