Let's Rock Bristol! is returning this weekend, writes Ria Newman
Let’s Rock! is back for its eighth year, but this time will host an 80s theme on Saturday, and 90s theme Sunday. The retro-themed event, held in Ashton Court Estate, will run from today (Friday 2) until Sunday 4 June, and is set to feature a host of artists.
Throwing it back to times of colour and pop music, the extravaganza kicks of this evening with Grammy award-winning Midge Ure taking the stage.
The line-up of the family-friendly festival includes Gloria Gaynor, who’s hit song ‘I Will Survive’ reached the coveted number one spot in 1979.
Other big names include Village People, famed for their classic tune ‘YMCA’, Howard Jones, singer of the 80’s hit ‘Things Can Only Get Better’, Atomic Kitten, with the original trio Kerry Katona, Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon reuniting, and alternative rock band Happy Mondays.
Let’s Rock Bristol! was a huge success last year, with Bristolians flocking to sing and dance to the nostalgic tunes, featuring UB40, Holly Johnson, Sinitta and Jason Donovan.
Attendee’s can camp in the picturesque surroundings of the estate, as well as enjoy its golf courses and mountain bikes available to hire.
The popular event will cater for hungry festival-goers with a range of catering options, including BBQ, Indian, Mexican and Chinese - although attendees can bring their own picnic if they wish.
Weekend tickets start at £82.50 for adults. For more information, visit www.letsrockbristol.com
