This year's massive Bristol Pride celebrations look to be the biggest and best yet…
Bristol Pride is almost upon us, with over a week of celebrations covering everything from the iconic Pride Parade to live performances from some of the biggest names in music! The award-winning free event (voted the number two Pride in the entire country!) has lots on for the entire family to get involved in, with stand-up comedy, theatre, arts, and even a dog show!
This year’s schedule is packed with brilliant things to see, do and experience, with lively discussions about LGBT+ issues, video gaming sessions, disco dodgeball, romance with a twist at Hot Dates With The Past, and much more — too much to list, even!
The Watershed is hosting Queer Vision, a film festival featuring some of the best LGBT+ films from across the world, with independent features, animated shorts and more on the line-up.
This year also includes guest screenings from Dublin-based LGBT+ film fest GAZE, the prestigious Best Of British award (voted for by the audience) and the return of The Iris Prize short showcase.
To kick off the main festivities ‘80s legend Belinda Carlisle, Katrina of Katrina and The Waves and Avec Sans will be playing the Harbourside Amphitheatre.
On Pride Day itself — 8 July — you can witness the brilliance of resurgent popstars Busted, plus a full day of supporting artists, including The X Factor’s Saara Aalto and Union J. Make sure you set a reminder for the massive Pride Parade — last year over 6,000 people turned out to show their support, and make a stand for diversity and equality.
This year’s march starts at 11am in Castle Park. This year’s official afterparty has a massive line-up to keep the fun going well into the wee hours, with the Horse Meat Disco and Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon bringing their eclectic brands of hedonistic action to the O2 Academy (there’s lots more going on during the night). This year’s theme is 'Revolution', so get your rebellious outfits ready! Tickets are available for this fundraiser from just £12.25.
Bristol Pride 2017 is free but you can also get your hands on supporter wristbands from just a fiver that get you extra bonuses such as money off at the bars and free travel on Pride Day. Be sure to check out the website for full timings.
