The integration will enable an even smoother check-in experience for the world-wide hosting business

London-based key exchange company KeyNest has announced its direct integration with travel giant Airbnb. The integration will enable KeyNest to provide a seamless check-in experience through its UK-wide network of local stores where hosts can securely leave keys for their guests.

The KeyNest service is currently available in 15 UK cities, including more than 100 stores in London.

Established by two experienced Airbnb hosts, KeyNest works to alleviate the common problem of uniting guests with their keys, particularly if hosts work a full time job or guests arrive on late evening flights.

“We were inspired by Airbnb’s ‘live like a local’ slogan, so we designed a service that puts trusted local businesses at the centre of their community, making them the first point of contact tourists have with a new neighbourhood”, said co-founder Florian Hoven.

The host drops off the key at their nearest KeyNest location at any time before the check-in. To give access to the keys, the host simply generates a unique collection code and shares it with the guest. Whenever a set of keys is collected, the Airbnb host is automatically notified.

The platform processes a key handover every 3 minutes, performing more check-ins per day than any short-term rental operator in the UK.
