The UK's healthiest cities revealed...

Have you ever wondered if your post code affects your health? A recent survey undertaken by Flying Homes, the UK’s trusted online property buying company, proves that for modern Brits there are several different lifestyle choices depending on where you live.

The survey, which considers statistics around diet, smoking and alcohol intake, as well as exercise, shows that Bristol has come out on top of the participating UK cities.

According to the study, 38% of Bristolians claim to always cook healthy meals, some of the highest statistics in the UK. They also came in the top three for vegetarian and vegan diets, proving that they like to fill up on their greens, and 75% of the city’s inhabitants claim to order a take-away less than once a week or not at all.

Bristol is also leading the way when it comes to lacing up those running shoes and hitting the gym; 40% of people in Bristol said that they exercise more than three times a week.

Scott Simpson, director at Flying Homes said; “We’re really happy for this achievement for Bristolians. We live in such a health-conscious society and we hope that other cities will follow this great example that Bristol has set.”

According to the survey, there’s always room for improvement. Bristolians could be missing out on the benefits of drinking plenty of water as they came in the bottom three for water consumption. Government recommendations state that a UK adult should drink around 8 glasses of water per day, but only 6% of the city’s inhabitants admit to doing so.

It’s a big well done to Bristol for setting such a good example, they just need to stay hydrated, particularly in these warmer summer months, before they can really take the gold medal.
