Europe's biggest street art and graffiti festival is back this month for a vibrant showcase of creativity...

Upfest is bringing a whole weekend of arts to Bristol, with some of the world’s finest street and graffiti artists coming to Bedminster and Southville to show off their skills! Over 35,000 visitors are expected to visit Upfest — the biggest festival of its kind in Europe — when it kicks off at the end of July.

Hundreds of artists from all walks of life will descend on the festival and create eye-catching pieces over the course of the weekend. Upfest will be welcoming talents from over 30 countries, with big names, festival faves, up-and-comers and more putting their imaginations to work on creations of all styles — from satirical statements to vibrant abstractions and everything in-between.

One of the most exciting names this year is Pahnl, a duo famous for comic-inspired figures and the Chaos Trilogy. Pahnl have been asked to be the Festival Artists and create the logo for Upfest 2017.

"There’s a whole host of reasons why we love Upfest," the pair explain. "It’s always an amazing time and a place where we’ve made so many of our friends, so it's an honour to have designed the logo for this year’s edition."

A huge range of venues up and down North Street are involved as usual, with restaurants, shops, bars and galleries all getting involved — but there are some intriguing locations set to get a fresh lick of paint! Ashton Gate Stadium will be hosting a brand new area with over 100 artists, and the Red Point Climbing Centre will feature some of the biggest 'canvasses' at the festival.

It’s not all about the outdoor displays — although that’s of course a massive part of Upfest — with plenty more fun things to see and do over the weekend. There are a variety of workshops, an affordable art fair, plus live music and DJs to help get everyone pumped up and into the festival atmosphere!

Upfest is once more raising money for The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA).
