Bristol businesses celebrated Chinese New Year with a banquet in the city attended by more than 200 people
The event took place at Dynasty on St Thomas Street and saw Bristol’s business and Chinese communities come together to celebrate the Year of the Rooster.
Highlights included a spectacular firework display by Skyburst and a Lion Dance by the University of Bristol Lion Dance Troupe. Guests also enjoyed a drinks reception and a four-course Chinese banquet.
Lord Mayor Councillor Jeff Lovell and Lady Mayoress Bridget Lovell were among those who attended and Charles Berkeley of Berkeley Castle spoke about a recent visit by Chinese schoolchildren to the historic estate.
The event was organised by the Bristol & West of England China Bureau, which fosters business links and was set up to ensure trade and cultural links with Bristol’s sister city of Guangzhou.
Chief Executive Dianne Francombe said: “This event is growing in popularity year on year and has become an important part of Bristol’s business calendar.
“Not only was it a great chance for people to network with new business contacts it also gave guests the opportunity to forge business links with Chinese organisations and enjoy a traditional Chinese New Year celebration.”
