An evening of Indian magic...
East meets West at a special party night planned for the next bank holiday, when top Bhangra acts perform at the iconic Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare.
The Bhangra Dance Night on Saturday 27 May will see performances from festival favourites RSVP Bhangra and Indian Man while guests will also enjoy an Indian banquet.
A fusion of Western and traditional style music, Bhangra originates from Punjab, India. The evening includes a masterclass in Bhangra dancing from RSVP Bhangra followed by entertainment from the acts where guests can show off their moves.
Charlotte Gaylard, events coordinator at the Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, said: “Our Bhangra Dance Night is set to take the seaside by storm this bank holiday!
“It’s going to be a great fun-filled evening of music, dance, culture and fabulous Indian cuisine. Anyone looking for a different party night out will love it.
“RSVP Bhangra will provide a brief dance masterclass for those who want to join in, so that when the entertainment starts everyone can show off their moves! It will be suitable for all ages and abilities, no matter what your dancing experience.
“Over the past ten years, RSVP Bhangra has performed at Glastonbury Festival six times and has developed its own unique brand of Bhangra music comprising an infectious mix of classic Punjabi music combined with dance beats. It’s a complete entertainment experience!
“Indian Man is widely known as the Prince of Urban Bhangra and spins anything from Bhangra classics to garage grooves. He uses his mother-tongue-twisting lyrics to take audiences on a journey from the Punjab to the UK!
“Both acts perform at festivals all over the world, so if you want to get into the Glastonbury spirit early this is your chance! Doors open at 7pm for what promises to be a fun-packed and entertaining Bollywood evening.”
Tickets are £22.50pp and include the dance class, themed buffet meal, entertainment and disco.
Advance booking is required. You can pre-purchase tickets online, from the retail shop on the first floor of the Grand Pier, or by contacting the Events Team on 01934 646 155.
