X Factor winner Joe McElderry slips on the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for this run of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic show...

Bristol Hippodrome will play host to this exciting run of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s much-loved Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with X Factor winner Joe McElderry taking the title role with aplomb! This is a memorable production stuffed with colour and vibrant sound that’s sure to leave a smile on your face and a skip in your step long after the curtain’s closed.

The teaming of McElderry and Joseph’s fancy jacket is sensational, with the talented all-rounder sliding with ease into the role — he’s already received rave reviews for this production, presented by Bill Kenwright. McElderry captured hearts as an 18-year-old winner of one of the UK’s biggest singing competitions, going on to win Pop Star To Opera Star and The Jump… and his transition to leading man has been similarly captivating!

The tale of Joseph is one of musical theatre’s best known — it’s a loose retelling of the Biblical tale of Joseph and his 11 brothers (and the coat of many colours, of course!) filled with laughter, dazzling sets and costumes and plenty of mesmerising songs... “Those Canaan Days”, “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door To Me” are particular highlights! The production will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year (a 15-minute version premiered in London’s Old Assembly Hall on 1 March, 1968), and this is an excellent way to get reacquainted (or meet for the first time) with the characters and music.

Get excited for this series of shows, which take place at the beginning of May with a number of matinees and lots of evening performances — there are even three showings on the Saturday so you have lots of chances to make sure you catch it while it’s in town.

This is a wonderful production sure to enchant every member of the family — tickets are available now from just £16.90.
