The Hippodrome hosts a spellbinding celebration of iconic artist Rod Stewart to start the new year right
Some Guys Have All The Luck is coming to Bristol! The brand-new breathtaking production celebrates the life and work of one of the nation’s most beloved rockers, Sir Rod Stewart, through music, dance and pure showmanship.
Stewart’s career has been rockin’ for almost half a century since its humble beginnings in ‘61, and although he’s probably best known as a solo artist these days, he’s had hits with many other outfits — most notably with supergroup The Faces, with whom Stewart was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (for Stewart’s second time, no less). Despite his lengthy stint in the industry, Stewart’s showing no signs of slowing down — he’s already booked to headline the Isle Of Wight Festival in 2017.
The Herculean task of portraying Stewart falls into the capable hands of Paul Metcalfe, who delivers a stunning performance, embodying the singular spirit, charisma and voice of Stewart — you’d think he was right before your very eyes! Metcalfe has memorised every move and vocal flourish, and his performance is one of meticulous detail — this is no mere tribute, this is on another level.
Some Guys Have All The Luck contains all the hugest hits from throughout Stewart's career in all their live, electrifying glory. Expect rousing renditions of songs from every era, from rock’n’roll bangers like Maggie May to heartfelt ballads such as Tonight’s The Night and Faces hits like Stay With Me — plus Motown classics from his Soulbook LP and, of course, titanic numbers in the vein of Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?!
This memorable show is only visiting the city for one wintry night, and tickets are selling (very) fast, so make sure you get in there quick to be in with a chance of catching what’s sure to be a highlight of the calendar — and yes, we’ve remembered it’s only January!
