Bristol’s favourite cider shop wins again
The team at Bristol Cider Shop is celebrating after winning the award for best cider shop in the UK for the second time. The shop was named Independent Cider Retailer of the Year 2018 at the Drinks Retailing Awards on Tuesday (6th Feb).
The awards are one of the drinks industry’s most prestigious accolades and involve a rigorous judging process. The team previously won the award in 2015 for their original Christmas Steps shop and have now completed the double by regaining the title for their new Wapping Wharf store.
Owner Pete Snowman attended the glittering awards ceremony, which was held at London’s Dorchester Hotel, and received the award from Martin Green, Editor of Drinks Retailing News, Darren Broadhurst of award sponsors Aston Manor and comedian Kerry Godliman.
Pete said: “We’re really chuffed. There’s loads of competition for the awards so we didn’t expect to win again. It’s really nice to be recognised for all the hard work we’ve put into the new shop – and hopefully means that we’re doing something right!”
Organisers received a record number of entries for this year’s awards and the small Bristol shop was in good company with other winners including national names like Waitrose, Virgin Wines and Selfridges.
