Panto season is right upon us, and this year's extravaganza at the Hippodrome will delight to no end
It’s the time of year again that everyone’s been looking forward to: panto season (oh no it isn’t…)! This year’s spectacular production at the Hippodrome will be beloved classic Aladdin, with the likes of Joe Pasquale, Marti Pellow and Hayley Tamaddon taking lead roles in this laugh-a-minute, heartwarming show, which runs from 9 December until 7 January next year.
Comedian Pasquale will be starring as Wishee Washee, while Pellow (of Wet Wet Wet) will be assuming the role of baddie Abanazar (get prepped for plenty of booing and hissing) and Emmerdale and Coronation Street fave Tamaddon will be Princess Jasmine — and, of course, there’s Aladdin himself, the mischievous genie and more characters to get to know during the show.
As well as tip-top acting talent, you can expect some seriously impressive visuals (Qdos Entertainment didn’t become the world’s biggest pantomime producers by cutting corners!), huge belly laughs at every turn, mesmerising costumes and a full orchestra providing the noises — this is the whole shebang.
If you’re looking for something to treat the family to, you’ve got an annual panto tradition or you just want a bit of a break from the roasts and the revelry, then this is sure to be a perfect day out. All the magical ingredients are here, and Aladdin is set to be a memorable pantomime that will have the whole family enthralled — there’s nothing quite like the cheek and quirk of a panto, and this is the ideal intro for a new generation… oh yes it is!
There are plenty of evening and matinee performances, so although this festive period will be busy, there’s plenty of chances to catch Aladdin — perhaps a post-Christmas treat to beat the lingering winter blues? Whenever you’re looking at, be sure to book quickly to avoid disappointment!
